Parent and Carers
An interactive pack has been designed for parents and carers of dyslexic children and those who think that their child might be dyslexic by The British Dyslexia Association. It includes information on spotting the signs of dyslexia, how to talk to a child about dyslexia and some hints and tips for supporting a dyslexic child at home and school.
Click here for the information pack.
They have also created a 'Top Tips' booklet for parents.
Assessment for Dyslexia
If you feel that your child may have dyslexia, please contact your child's class teacher. They will infor the SENDCo, who will carry out a screener. You will be informed of the result.
If the result indicates a moderare or high possibility of dyslexia, we will do the following to support in school:
Start the Nessy programme (Nessy.com). You will be given a login to use at home.
Start the Beat Dyslexia Programme
Start the 'Stareway to Spelling' programme (for Year 5 and 6)
Unfortunately, Trafford are not currently carrying out assessments to diagnose dyslexia. If you want a diagnosis, this will have to be saught privately. They are however available to support and advise schools.
Colour Veil
If you child has been diagnosed with visual stress, they may need a colour filter, coloujred paper in books. Following the link below allows you to add a filter to your device if your child needs to use a colour filter. This is completely free and may also help with dyslexia.
