Educational Psychology Service

Trafford Educational Psychology Service

Trafford Educational Psychology Service is a Local Authority Educational Psychology Service working with schools and families.

An Educational Psychologist (sometimes referred to as an EP), is someone who has doctoral level graduate training in how children and young people learn and the different ways of supporting them in school by applying psychological models and theories.

They apply their understanding of psychology to identify teaching and learning strategies which will promote inclusion and wellbeing and improve educational outcomes for children and young people in the following areas, outlined in the SEND Code of Practice:

  • Social, emotional, and mental health

  • Communication and interaction

  • Cognition and learning

  • Physical and sensory

Here are a couple of short videos about the role mod an Educational Psychologist.

They also have a Facebook page where they share lots of different information about services available. They also share links for SENDIASS ( Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service), Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance, Speech and Language and Trafford Family Information Service.

They also offer a free 30 minute telephone call, for parents and carers, with an Educational Psychologist. They provide a chance to talk through what your child is finding difficult and access some advice and signposting from the EP Team. These are however only available to families not already known to an Educational Psychologist through school or an EHCP.

To book as session, just click the 'Book Now' button on their profile page on Facebook. This can be accessed via the link above.
