Melting Moments!

During our Talk for Writing sessions we have been finding out about penguins. We were surprised to find a penguin figure and some of its friends had got trapped in ice, we talked about how ice forms and how we could get the animals out.

The children had some good ideas, including getting a hammer, getting warm water, putting the ice in the rain or using our warm hands to melt the ice. 

We passed round the blocks of ice, then put them in a tray, finding different ways to free the animals - we used salt, warm hands, our breath and warm water which finally worked!!
